5 THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT... EMPLOYEE RECOGNITION

What does employee recognition look like today? There is still a place for awards and gift tokens to reward good performance, but is a certificate or a “Well done” in a formal appraisal once a year sufficient? Are line managers doing enough to acknowledge colleagues’ valiant efforts as and when they happen?

1. Offer a financial reward. Nolan Sundrud, senior director, communications, Health Net Federal Services Leaders should frequently and publicly recognise success during town halls, leadership calls and newsletters. Call out people by name and share what they did that made a difference. You can’t thank people too much. Even better than public recognition is to put some money into it....
